Walter Haut July 1947-এ Roswell Army Air Field-এর public information officer হিসেবে কাজ করতেন। Base command-এর instruction-এ তিনি personnel একটি “flying disc” recover করেছে—এমন announcement প্রস্তুত বা distribute করেন।

Public-release sequence-এ Haut-এর role securely documented। তাই base কীভাবে recovery announce করেছিল এবং extraordinary wording থেকে balloon-related explanation-এ দ্রুত transition—এ দুটির primary source তিনি।

Public information officer status তাকে ranch debris, second site, recovered vehicle বা body-এর automatic direct witness করে না। এসব claim date ও source অনুযায়ী separate করতে হবে।

সবচেয়ে শক্ত attributable evidence হলো Haut:

  • base public information officer হিসেবে কাজ করেছেন;
  • Colonel William Blanchard-এর সঙ্গে associated instruction পেয়েছিলেন;

Earlier interview এবং 1993 affidavit সাধারণত তার communications role ও senior officers কী জানতেন সে বিষয়ে belief-এ জোর দেয়। 2002-এ signed এবং death-এর পরে released একটি document অনেক broader claim করে, যার মধ্যে:

  • staff briefing-এ attendance;

8 July press release local ও wire-service reporting-এর মাধ্যমে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে record-এ প্রবেশ করে। এটি contemporaneous official communication এবং Haut-এর role-এর সবচেয়ে secure documentary basis।

Haut পরে Roswell researcher-দের interview দেন। Earlier account-এ তিনি release carry out করার কথা বলেন এবং alien body বা craft-এ first-hand access consistently claim করেননি।

1993 affidavit release নিয়ে তার recollection এবং Blanchard ও Jesse Marcel-এর মতো officer material ভুল identify করতেন না—এ belief formalise করে। অন্য officer-এর competence-এ belief নিজে material দেখার equivalent নয়।

2002 document later Roswell researcher-দের collaboration-এ arranged ও drafted হয়, witnesses ও notary-এর presence-এ signed হয় এবং Haut-এর death পর্যন্ত withheld থাকে। এটি 2007-এ published হয়। এর provenance clearly describe করা উচিত কারণ:

Central communications role stable। Personal observation-এর scope expand হয়েছে।

Changing account reflect করতে পারে:

  • আগে গোপন রাখা তথ্য;
  • speak করার improved willingness;
  • স্মৃতি পুনর্গঠন;
  • দশকের Roswell literature-এর influence;
  • interviewer assumption;
  • age-related memory limitation;
  • deliberate embellishment।

Public record expansion থেকে cause determine করতে পারে না। তবে দেখাতে পারে late claim fixed 1947 role-এর চেয়ে কম evidential weight পাওয়া উচিত।

2002 affidavit
