Objective, open research into UAPs and beyond

Common questions

What is a UAP?

UAP means Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. Government and research bodies use it for reported observations in the air, space, sea, or across domains that cannot be confidently identified from the information then available. Many reports are later resolved; an unresolved report usually means the available evidence is insufficient for a confident identification.

Have governments officially confirmed aliens?

No. Governments have released UAP footage, reports, and hearing testimony, but those materials do not amount to a verified finding that aliens have visited Earth. Public allegations about hidden programmes or recovered material remain allegations unless independently supported by documents, physical evidence, or a formal investigation.

Why do some people think video ‘orbs’ are alien craft?

A bright dot or ‘orb’ in video is an appearance, not a conclusion about the object. Camera optics, viewing angle, parallax, sensor settings, distance, and atmospheric conditions can all change how motion appears. Without calibrated data and context, public video is often insufficient to establish size, speed, manoeuvre, or origin.

How could extraterrestrial visitors reach Earth if faster-than-light travel is unproven?

Faster-than-light travel has not been demonstrated. Researchers have published theoretical space-time models sometimes called warp drives, but these are not working propulsion systems and face substantial physical constraints. Their existence in the literature does not show that any UAP is extraterrestrial or uses such a mechanism.

Why might governments withhold UAP information?

Governments may withhold some UAP-related information for familiar national-security reasons, including protecting sensor capabilities, intelligence sources and methods, military operations, and information about foreign technology. Claims that secrecy is excessive or conceals extraordinary material are publicly disputed and require specific documentary or investigative support.

Is it unreasonable to consider an extraterrestrial explanation?

No. Considering possible explanations is part of inquiry, provided the evidence is proportionate to the claim. An extraterrestrial explanation remains one hypothesis among many; a witness’s credentials may help assess a report, but they do not independently establish its cause. Scepticism and respectful treatment of witnesses can coexist.

What counts as strong UAP evidence?

Stronger evidence combines calibrated, independent sensors with preserved metadata, known time and location, weather and operational context, and a documented chain of custody. It should also allow analysts to test ordinary explanations against the original records. A striking clip or sincere testimony can warrant investigation, but usually cannot settle a conclusion by itself.

How should science approach UAP research?

A useful UAP research process preserves original data, documents provenance, measures uncertainty, and tests competing explanations. Methods and results should be transparent enough for independent review where security permits. The conclusion should stay no stronger than the evidence supports.

How do intelligence assessments treat unresolved UAP incidents?

Intelligence assessments evaluate available reporting, sensor credibility, context, and possible national-security relevance. An unresolved incident means there is not enough reliable evidence for a confident identification at that time. It does not by itself establish either an extraordinary origin or that no observation occurred.
