First night
Security personnel saw lights near the Woodbridge east gate and initially suspected an aircraft crash. Burroughs, Penniston and Cabansag entered the forest. Early statements focus on moving or distant lights; Penniston’s later accounts describe approaching and touching a small marked triangular object.
Daytime inspection
Personnel documented three shallow depressions arranged roughly as a triangle and noted tree damage. The marks were photographed and measured. Radiation checks later produced modest beta/gamma readings whose scale, background and significance remain disputed.
Halt investigation
On 27–28 December, Halt led a team back into the forest with a cassette recorder. The tape captures uncertainty around ground marks, radiation, a rhythmic flashing light toward the coast and later aerial lights. His 13 January memorandum formally reported “Unexplained Lights” to the Ministry of Defence.
What the record establishes
- Multiple security personnel reported unusual lights over consecutive nights.
- Halt created a contemporaneous recording and official memorandum.
- Small ground marks were photographed.
- No craft photograph, fragment or continuous sensor track exists.
