Rectangular, oblong or block-like forms reported without a conventional aircraft profile.
Overview
Rectangular descriptions range from apparently solid blocks to elongated lights. The available UAPRAD record contains few cases in which a rectangle is both central to the report and well resolved.
Observation and identification
Perspective can compress wings and fuselages, while darkness may leave only a lit rectangular region. This category should remain narrow and should not absorb every use of the word ‘oblong’.
The earliest wording, sketches and recordings carry greater evidential weight than later labels or illustrations.

The log records a shiny metallic rectangular object at Beith on 21 July and a rectangular object with three bright lights and a red rear light at Bampton on 4 August. These brief entries do not establish range, dimensions or identity.

The entries preserve ambiguous shape language rather than confirmed structure.
