Ring / torus
Annular forms and luminous rings whose centre appears open or less bright.
Overview
Ring-like UAP reports are comparatively sparse in the current archive. Some may describe structured annular objects, while others can arise from defocus, diffraction, atmospheric effects or the rendering of a bright source.
Observation and identification
A dark centre in an image does not by itself establish a hollow object. Original files, focus information and the behaviour of known point sources recorded by the same system are particularly important.
The earliest wording, sketches and recordings carry greater evidential weight than later labels or illustrations.

These sources preserve the relevant shape description. Their provenance and limitations are noted in each summary.
A Cheshire entry dated 9 January states that an object eclipsing the Moon was ring-shaped. The brief record preserves the morphology term but does not establish distance, source identity or a toroidal body.
Open record UK Ministry of Defence UFO Report 2001The log records a circular object with a ring at Whitchurch on 28 February, nested rings at Humberside on 20 May, a horizontal ring with a tail at Buxton on 14 August and a circle within a circle at Abbotskerswell on 17 August. The entries do not establish physical annular objects.

Evidence assessment
No current UAPRAD case establishes a ring or torus as a resolved physical form. Until a source preserves adequate geometry and provenance, annular appearance is better treated as an observation to test than as a class of object.
